ALLOSAURUS SKULL

First discovered in 1870 and named based on a single tail vertebra found in Colorado's Morrison Formation, Allosaurus (formerly Antrodemus) was a 35 foot predatory dinosaur with a 3 foot skull. Numerous skeletons have been found since, making this one of the best-known and studied dinosaurs. Considered by some scientists to have been a pack hunter, Allosaurus was a swift, rapacious carnivore, preying on other Jurassic plant-eating dinosaurs like Stegosaurus, Diplodocus and Camptosaurus.
