EUOPLOCEPHALUS

This animal was an ankylosaur, a plant eating, short-limbed, quadrupedal dinosaur with a long, wide body covered in armor consisting of horns, spines and scutes, keeled or unkeeled plates of bone, embedded in the skin. A similar defense can be seen on the bodies of crocodiles and alligators, but Euoplocephalus also had large bony spines embedded in it's neck, shoulders and back, plus a long tail ending in a heavy mass of bone, much like a mace or club.

Fossils of ankylosaurs have been found in Late Cretaceous North America and Asia, with some animals reaching an estimated length of 30 to 35 feet.
